Over a dozen students are participating in Wicomico County Public Schools' C.R.E.W. program this summer. C.R.E.W. stands for Career Research Education and Work, and gives rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to work in a paid position in the community for 6 weeks during the summer. Students also get classroom training on communication soft skills needed to be successful in the workplace.
On Wednesday, the students were visited by Lower Shore Workforce Alliance's Sherri Sigrist who spoke to the class about various job opportunities available on the Eastern Shore and how to pursue those careers.

Looking ahead to next week: Wicomico County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, July 4. School system offices, secondary summer school and some programs are open July 3. Check with other programs for schedule that day.

Wicomico Public Schools is transitioning to a new text alert system for the new school year. It's called Thrillshare.
You will receive an "introductory text" on your phone from our new system on Thursday afternoon (June 29th). You'll know the message is from us because you'll see the 5-digit code of 98900.
If you no longer want to receive these text messages for school updates, emergencies, closings, delays, etc., simply reply STOP to that text message.
Again, just a reminder to look for an introductory text message from our new alert system on Thursday afternoon. We wish you the best this summer and look forward to seeing you after Labor Day for the start of the new school year - Wicomico Public Schools

Parents of incoming Parkside Freshman, save one of the two following dates for Parkside Freshman Orientation:
August 2nd - AM times
August 9th - PM times
This is just a "save the date" notification. In a few weeks you will receive a postcard from Parkside that will give you additional information, as well as a Google Form to sign up for this event. We can't wait to meet the Parkside High School Class of 2027!

Congratulations to William Creese who was selected for the Cash for College 98.1 scholarship and was interviewed today on the radio.
William was able to show the DJs how to pole vault (see 2nd pic) with his hand in the air...as this was his explanation on how to "pole vault". The DJs were fascinated and making lots of jokes of this experience. The radio hosts were baffled on how one decides to run with a pole and project themselves into the air...only to hope for the best to cross over.
Congratulations William on this scholarship and being able to pole vault! Proud of you and best of luck at Virginia Tech!
